Presentation of Village Head Appointment Certificate

Village heads as leaders at the grassroots level need to show their capabilities and abilities in duties entrusted to them and be prepared to change their working methods and think dynamically in carrying out achievement oriented duties. This was among the matters touched upon by Awang Abdul Walid bin Haji Matassan, Acting Permanent Secretary for Municipal and District at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Presentation of the Appointment Certificate for Grade 2 Village Head, Kampung Bokok, Mukim Bokok, Temburong District.

Awang Abdul Walid said that until now various initiatives, changes and improvements have been made in efforts to realise Wawasan Brunei 2035 and the government will continue to plan various programmes to enhance productivity as well as motivate the people holding government positions including village heads. For this, the government through the Ministry of Home Affairs has also implemented various initiatives to assist the community towards enhancing well-being and socio-economy through local economic projects which includes the initiative carried out through the One Village One Product programme.

Present was Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu, member of the Legislative Council. Earlier, Awang Abdul Ghani bin Haji Othman, the Acting Temburong District Officer in his speech also stressed that the appointment of the village head by the government is to carry out duties as a leader at the grassroots level by giving serious attention towards the welfare of the village residents apart from ensuring development is carried out in the respective areas and lead the residents towards a better and joyful life, united, and respecting the neighbours regardless of ethnicity and religion.

Awang Abdullah bin Haji Mahmood is officially appointed as the Grade 2 Village Head of Kampung Bokok. 56 year old Awang Abdullah, was formerly employed at the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, Temburong branch. He was the sole candidate for the position during the Voting and Selection of Kampung Bokok Village Head held on the 21st of September 2018.
