As preparation for the reopening of all mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide during the Transition Phase that will commence on Friday, 19th of November 2021, cleaning works began for mosques, suraus and religious halls in each district. In the Brunei Muara District, cleaning works were carried out at the Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque in Kampung Sungai Kebun.
Areas outside and inside the mosque building were cleaned and sanitised, and markings were made for physical distancing by mosque officers and staff in collaboration with the mosque takmir committee and youths as well as cleaning services companies. At a recent media conference, the Ministry of Religious Affairs announced that the reopening of all mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide can be considered once the country's complete vaccination reached 70 per cent. However, this is subjected to the COVID-19 Steering Committee's assessment. The reopening of mosques, suraus and religious halls is for the 5 daily Fardhu prayers and Friday prayer only.
