Launch of ASEAN Train

With the upcoming ASEAN- Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit which will be held this November, one of the main events lined up to enliven the celebration is the ASEAN TRAIN to several major cities in the Republic of Korea in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of the ASEAN- Republic of Korea dialogue relations. The event which took place from the 15th October until yesterday were joined by 200 participants from the ASEAN member states and the Republic of Korea. Joining the country's participants were Dato Seri Paduka Awang Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy for Fiscal and Her Excellency Pengiran Hajah Nooriyah bte Pengiran Lela Wijaya Pengiran Haji Yussof, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Korea. The ASEAN Korea Centre AKC is the organizer for the ASEAN-Korea Train in conjunction with its 10th anniversary. The ASEAN-Korea Train visit is the starting point towards strengthening relations between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea for the next 3 decades based on three pillars which consist people, prosperity and peace.

The launching ceremony held on the 16th of October at Seoul Station, Republic of Korea was attended by Her Excellency Park Young-sun, Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups, Republic of Korea together with 40 high-level representatives from both the ASEAN member countries and the Republic of Korea.

The ASEAN-Korea Train participants comprise artists and performers from the 11 countries showcasing their musical talents through various performances during the 6 hour train ride to Gyeongju, Busan, Suncheon and Gwangju.

The ASEAN-Korea Train is an excellent platform to expose the variety of beautiful cultures and musical talents of the ASEAN member countries. This initiative is hoped to encourage the local people and foreign tourists to have better knowledge on ASEAN as well as to promote tourism among the countries involved.
