Lastest Update on COVID-19 Infection

The latest update on COVID-19 infection in the country, and the Ministry of Health has confirmed five more new cases. The new cases bring the number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 11. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, in a media conference this afternoon explained that all the new cases are in stable condition. They do not have fever and do not require respirators. During a Press Conference which was also attended by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister Of Home Affairs and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister At The Prime Minister's Office And Second Minister Of Finance And Economy, the Minister Of Health also explained the six confirmed cases are still being treated at the National Isolation Centre and in stable condition.

Yang Berhormat said the Ministry of Health is conducting contact tracing for all cases which have been confirmed today. The Quarantine Order according to Infectious Disease Chapter 204 was issued for contacts of every case. As of 2 o'clock this afternoon, 11 March 2020, samples from more than 100 people have been taken for COVID-19 tests of which 66 laboratory tests have been conducted and the rest still waiting for the test results. The laboratory tests usually take about 4 to 6 hours. Meanwhile, the Quarantine Order has been issued for 80 contacts of the confirmed cases.

The Minister of Health continued that mass gatherings are discouraged. However, anyone attending a mass gathering such as a wedding ceremony must practice good personal hygiene and a person who experiences the symptoms of the infection is not allowed to attend. The Ministry of Health also urges the public to be socially responsible.
