22nd ASEAN Plus Three Summit

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in a titah said that in the face of current challenges, it is now more important than ever that ASEAN, China, Japan and Republic of Korea further strengthen their cooperation for the benefit of their peoples. To that end, all parties must continue to uphold an open, rules-based multilateral trading system. His Majesty, in the titah, further said the conclusion of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership RCEP agreement would signify strong commitment in strengthening regional economic integration.

His Majesty delivered the titah while attending the 22nd ASEAN Plus Three Summit; and a Special Luncheon on Sustainable Development, which were held at Impact Arena, Exhibition and Trade Centre, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand. Accompanying His Majesty was His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

The ASEAN Plus Three Summit commenced with the unveiling of the ASEAN Plus Three Website.

The Summit then continued with the Opening Statement from His Excellency Retired General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand and Chairman of ASEAN.

His Majesty in a titah added, in addition, given ASEAN's interest in enhancing its work towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and in combating global climate change, ASEAN welcomes greater sharing of expertise and transfer of new technologies from the Plus Three countries. This includes their support in improving disaster management in the region as well as in the ongoing efforts to enhance the capacity of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management or A-H-A Centre. His Majesty further stated that in addition to directly benefiting the people in the South East Asian region, such joint efforts by the ASEAN Plus Three platform could also greatly strengthen unity and friendship in East Asia.
