National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme Registration for Senior Citizens Aged 60 And Above

10,715 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccination injection so far in the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination programme. As previously informed, it is not mandatory to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine. However, members of the public are welcomed to register for the COVID-19 vaccination shot when bookings for injection slots are announced according to stipulated phases.

Starting yesterday, booking slots via BruHealth applications is open for senior citizens aged 60 and above, and vaccination will commence on Saturday, 24th of April 2021, with AstraZeneca vaccine will be offered.

As previously informed during the Ministry of Health's press conference on the 6th of Ramadhan 1442 Hijrah corresponding to the 19th of April 2021, based on the COVID-19 Vaccine Technical Committee overall review, the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine can be offered with following conditions:

- Due to the increased risk observed in younger individuals, and the lower risk and higher benefit ratio of the above 60 years, the AstraZeneca vaccine will be offered to adults above the age of 60 years.

- The AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine can be used for adults who are 60 years old and below if the benefit outweighs the risk and the individual has made informed consent based on the understanding of the risk and benefits, and personally requested the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
