Two male suspects aged 33 and 45 are believed to be involved in bringing in raw meat into the country without valid permission and permit. In a press release, the Royal Brunei Police Force explained that two suspicious looking vehicles were found at the Jalan Labu area, Temburong District, at 5.30 yesterday morning during a patrol and preventive monitoring by personnel from Bangar Police Station.
The two vehicles were found at the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge waiting for the bridge to be opened. An inspection and arrest were immediately carried out on one of the vehicles together with its driver. Meanwhile, the other vehicle sped away and was found to be involved in an accident in the Kampung Ujong Jalan area without the driver in sight. Inspection conducted found 46 boxes of Allana brand frozen meat and 60 cartons of alcoholic drinks. The suspects and confiscated items were brought to the Bangar Police Station for early investigation and handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigation.
