Efforts to Diversify the Country’s Economy

The First Meeting of the 17th Legislative Council Meeting reconvened in its eleventh day yesterday by approving allocation under the Development and made as part of the Supply Bill 2021/2022 Schedule. The council also approved two resolutions, namely the Resolution Clause 7 of Article 83 of the Constitution of Brunei Darussalam 1959; and the Resolution under Section 4(2) of the Development Fund Act, Chapter 136 and adjournment speeches by Council Members.

The morning session also deliberated various issues on development allocation, among them the Economic Blueprint. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy responded on the issue.

Yang Berhormat added the Economic Blueprint supports several efforts to diversify the economy, not only relying on allocation from NDP or recurring allocation. More importantly, there are also funds from Foreign Direct Investment, FDI and Government Linked Companies, GLC's well as the possibility of financing from the bank. Yang Berhormat also said we should not see NDP's provided allocation as a KPI.
