The Prime Minister's Office through the Public Service Department has initiated the preparation of the Guideline on Sexual Harassment. This was shared by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in response to questions from Yang Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu and Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Haji Ash'ari. The Minister at the Prime Minister's Office added the initiative takes into account a proactive approach and raising public awareness on sexual harassment and the procedure for avoiding it.
The guideline is intended to provide guidance on action to be taken by the authorised agencies on reports of such acts. It also provides guidance for action against abuses and irresponsible actions such as making false reports. The guideline also takes into account and aligns the current controlling Act and Regulations, indicating the Acts and Regulations exist. All these are meant to curb and prohibit conduct which can disrupt the peace of public service. So far the Counselling Service Section at the Public Service Department has officially received few reports on such cases because people are not willing to report them.
