11 students residing at Brunei Hall in London, were confirmed positive for COVID-19, with 3 cases still active. The Ministry of Education stated the matter through its Media Release yesterday.
Starting from the first case detected, all students residing in Brunei Hall have undergone swab tests and isolation in their respective rooms and a total of 31 students have completed their isolation period. Following the situation, the Ministry of Education through the Students Unit in London has collaborated with the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam in the United Kingdom and the Ministry of Health, Brunei Darussalam in monitoring the students' health progress in the United Kingdom. Among the efforts undertaken are the immediate closure of the Brunei Hall building, health monitoring, implementation of contact tracing for all students and workforce, supply of food and beverages and medical as well as other necessities.
Aside from the 3 active cases experiencing mild symptoms, all students are well. Students at the Brunei Hall in particular, and those in the United Kingdom in general, are advised to always adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures, SOP set from time to time to prevent COVID-19 infection. Students are also advised to always inform their daily situation to the management of Brunei Hall. Parents, guardians and families of students are advised not to panic about the situation.
The Ministry of Education will continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the relevant parties in monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the United Kingdom.
