Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah ‘Idil Fitri Celebration

This year's Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Hari Raya 'Idilfitri Celebration gathered youths who have contributed in the religious, community, entrepreneurship and creative arts programmes as well as youth and students who have the potential to contribute to the socio-economic development and well-being of society. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced the ceremony at the International Convention Centre in Berakas yesterday morning.

Upon arrival, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri were greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Di-Raja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Yang Di-Pertua of Adat Istiadat Negara as First Deputy Chairman of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah's Committee of Governors; Second Deputy Chairman of Yayasan's Committee of Governors; Members of Yayasan's Committee of Governors; Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Yayasan's Board of Directors as well as the Acting Managing Director of Yayasan.

Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons, brothers, daughter and sisters;

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik, Chairman of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah's Committee of Governors;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen;

- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-At-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

- and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.

The ceremony commenced with the reading of doa selamat led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, the Chairman of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Board of Directors in his welcoming address said that this year's celebration carries the theme "Memperkasa Kecerdasan Belia Mampan" or Empowering Sustainable Youth Intelligence which emphasises the need for today's youth to empower intelligence to always be ready to take responsibility and face national as well as global challenges in a positive, resilient and viable way. The intelligence aspect is not only focused on knowledge, skills and innovation but also terms of spirituality, intellectuality and emotional which should be instilled in every youth so that they become the country's youth who have self-esteem, physical and mental endurance, patriotic, disciplined as well as possess noble values and behaviour as responsible youths who strongly uphold the Malay Islamic Monarchy concept.

The function continued with a video presentation titled "Memperkasa Kecerdasan Belia Mampan" which portrays the active involvements and achievements accomplished by the national youths.

The Syair or traditional poetry of Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien was presented by Dayang Nuratikah Nabilah binti Abdullah-Thane, a student from Yayasan Secondary School.

The ceremony was enlivened with various performances by students from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah kindergarten, Primary and Secondary schools as well as Bengkurong primary School, led by the Culture and Arts Division, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

A sketch featured visionary youth who turn challenges into opportunities for change.

The celebration was further enlivened with a silat performance by the country's national Pencak Silat athletes who won the silver and bronze medals at the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi, Viet nam recently.

70 students participated in various performances.

The theme of this year's celebration was selected to uphold His Majesty's titah and noble desire to see all parties work together in increasing concern for youth so that they become a resilient generation, have a positive mindset, confident, creative, dynamic and innovative as well as responsible for supporting the aspirations of the Wawasan Negara 2035.
