It is still difficult to accurately predict the extent of the 4.0 Industry’s disruption to industry and employment in Southeast Asia. Recent research has identified that the lack of skilled workforce is a barrier for the future economic development of ASEAN member states and the capacity to use the potential Industry 4.0 for sustainable growth. The Deputy Permanent Secretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education stated the matter during the Closing Ceremony of the Workshop and Regional Training Programme: The readiness of T-VET institutions for the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in Southeast Asia’. The ceremony took place yesterday afternoon at the Seameo Voctech Regional Centre in Gadong.

Doctor Chin Wei Keh shared that industrial development has had an impact and will continue to affect the way of living, learning and working. Therefore, the research project is important as the preparation of the industry and T-VET institutions for the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

The ceremony coincided with a certificate presentation. 24 participants from 9 Seameo member countries joined the workshop, which was held online in September. Meanwhile, the second workshop was held for three days for field work.
