The safety and well-being of flood affected villagers in the Belait District continue to receive appropriate attention from several government agencies. This includes constant monitoring of the situation by the District's Disaster Management Committee which has also taken steps to enable coordinated action to be implemented.
This morning, a delegation from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports visited several flood affected areas in Mukim Bukit Sawat. There was a briefing on the latest flood situation and measures taken by government agencies in the affected places. The briefing was given by Awang Abdol Hazis bin Haji Ahad, Assistant Belait District Officer who is also Chairman of the District Emergency Operations Centre. Heading the delegation were Awang Mohammad Amir Hairil bin Haji Mahmud and Awang Salminan bin Haji Burut, Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. During the tour, 13 aid rations were distributed among affected villagers in Kampung Sungai Mau, Kampung Laid Lakang, Kampung Merangking Hilir and Kampung Kandol. Meanwhile, the flood in Mukim Sukang is under control and monitoring continued. Also present were Yang Berhormat Awang Hanapi bin Md Siput, Member of the Legislative Council and Awang Ramlee bin Haji Jamudin, Belait District Officer.
