Virtual Graduation Ceremony

Three local institutions namely Universiti Brunei Darussalam, UBD; Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA; and Universiti Teknologi Brunei, UTB; had their first virtual graduation ceremony. The ceremony was for 31 students from each respective institution who had completed a 10-month special programme called the Osaka University International Programme: Halal Science, Technology and Innovation hosted by Osaka University, OU Japan.

 

Attending the momentous event were Doctor Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education; Professor Doctor Genta Kawahara, Executive Vice President of Global Engagement, Osaka University and Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University and the vice-chancellor representatives from UBD and UTB. Doctor Haji Azman in his speech shared the programme strengthens the collaboration between Osaka University and Higher Education Institution in Brunei Darussalam in their collaboration through the use of digital collaboration. The programme aims to contribute to the solution of issues in the ASEAN region while focusing on the individuality of each country’s society and culture, and develop infrastructure to benefit those societies through international and innovative approaches. A few courses were studied under the programme such as Halal Science, Sustainable Development Goals and Advanced Technology for Halalan-Toyyiban.
