Uphold National Climate Change Policy

The project of planting trees at home is one of the efforts towards upholding the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy launched on the 25th of July 2020 in order to achieve the target of planting five hundred thousand new trees by 2035. Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Haji Ash'ari, member of the Legislative Council as the Co-founder of Green Brunei explained that Green Brunei in collaboration with Mitsubishi Corporation and the Brunei Climate Change Secretariat has organised a Stay-at-Home Tree Planting Project which started on the 1st of November.

According to Yang Berhormat, the project targets the planting one thousand, five hundred and ninety tree saplings. To date, some four hundred saplings have been adopted. The public who are interested can make requests to GREEN BRUNEI and they will then arrange the distribution of the saplings.

The 20 members of Green Brunei involved are INTERNS from Universiti Brunei Darussalam. Two types of saplings were distributed namely fruit and ornamental trees. According to Yang Berhormat, the saplings are contributed by Mitsubishi Corporation and the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Secretariat.

The public is welcomed to take part in the activity by reserving slots through the 'Mengalinga' application or Instagram, Facebook as well as Twitter '@greenbrunei'.
