UNISSA’s 12th Haflut Takharruj

431 graduates including 22 international graduates received the Doctor of Philosophy or PhD, Master's, Bachelor's and Special Degrees as well as Diplomas in various disciplines at UNISSA's 12th Haflut Takharruj or Convocation. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam as Chancellor of UNISSA conferred the degrees and diplomas to the graduates.

The ceremony began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education and Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, RECTOR of UNISSA. Also present was His Royal Highness Prince Doctor Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, as Pro-Chancellor of UNISSA. The reading of Surah Yasin, verses 33 to 36, was presented by Awang Abdul Hafiz bin Haji Abdul Kadiroshman, Bachelors of Syariah, Fiqh and Judiciary Graduate.

The Rector of UNISSA in his welcoming address among others highlighted the development of a number of UNISSA's new academic programmes suitable with the country's higher education landscape and current industry needs. Aside from that, the Faculty of Agriculture also offers a certificate level programme called the Bridging Program to connect between studies at the HBTec in agriculture and university levels. His Majesty then officiated the conferment of doctorates, degrees and diplomas to the graduates.

Of the 431 graduates, a graduate was conferred the Doctor of Philosophy degree; 38 graduates received the Master's Degree; 13 were presented with Graduate Diplomas; 339 received Bachelor's Degrees; and 40 others were presented with Diplomas. Of the total, 22 were international graduates.

At this year's Haflut Takharruj, UNISSA's Halalan Tayyiban Research Centre produced the first 74 Bachelor of Halal Science graduates. UNISSA also celebrated the first 13 graduates of the Da'ie and Leadership National Diploma Programme. Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti.

This year, UNISSA recorded the highest number of graduates since the university's first batch of graduates in 2011.
