Two-Day State Visit on the 15th and 16th of October 2022

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will leave for Dhaka, People’s Republic of Bangladesh for a two-day State Visit on the 15th and 16th of October 2022, at the invitations of His Excellency Mohammad Abdul Hamid, President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh as well as Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. This is His Majesty’s first State Visit to the country.

 

His Majesty is expected to meet the President and Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Dhaka to discuss matters to enhance the bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh as well as exchange views on regional and international developments. His Majesty is also expected to attend a Welcoming Ceremony and a State Banquet hosted by the President.

 

Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh were established on 5th May 1984. Since then, there have been various exchanges of visits from Ministers and Senior Officials of both countries. Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh visited Brunei Darussalam on the 21st to 23rd of April 2019. Brunei Darussalam has also received visits from then Prime Minister of Bangladesh in 2004 as well as several Bangladeshi Ministers in 1994, 1999, 2012 and 2013.
