Third Cultural Festival

Strengthening the ethnic music is vital for the community specifically among the youth. Golden opportunity also need to be benefited with the latest approaches in order to further raise awareness and internalisation of community towards the ethnic musics such as the use of modern music equipment and technology as well as platform to spread its beauty. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports during the launch of the Third Cultural Festival: Music Equipment of Seven Ethnics in Brunei Darussalam, this afternoon also touched on strengthening the nation's identity that becomes the core towards the culture sector which possess educational element to give understanding on the culture heritage in developing the nation.

Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin said the uniqueness of culture heritage should be empowered at all times as it is the strength of every ethnics in the country as an integrated nation that boasts its own identity.

The Minister added that although we will continue to face new challenges, we need to prioritize and continue to uphold our cultural value towards the development of identity, ethnic, community and nation including the music cultural expression. As the next step, the Minister hoped and suggested that languages of every ethnics should be highlighted by opening the opportunity to the public to learn through classes.

The Festival is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports with the cooperation of Brunei History Centre Department, Department of Language and Literature Bureau and Museums Department. This cultural Festival showcases music equipment from seven Malay ethnics in the country. The Festival which is held at the atrium, One City Shopping Centre, Kampung Salambigar, will end on the 15th this month.
