12 selected mosques will use the Smart Helmet to check body temperature of congregants who will perform the Friday prayer, this 29th May. The use of the Smart Helmet aims to expedite entry into the mosque. According to Awang Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Policy and Management at the Ministry of Health, the smart helmets will be used by appointed personnel including mosque takmir committee, safety officers and volunteers.
He added that the smart helmet has no scanning limit as it is capable of scanning temperature of individuals or the mass at the same time. As the country is facing the COVID-19 pandemic, mosques, suraus and religious halls are operating at a 30 per cent capacity. Hence, not everyone can get a slot to perform the Friday prayer as the number of congregants allowed entry are limited.
Meanwhile, Pengiran Haji Haslin bin Pengiran Haji Ali, Acting Assistant Director of Mosque Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs advised the congregants to follow all instructions and give cooperation to on-duty personnel.
