The National Recycling Day Initiative

The National Recycling Day initiative will be held this Saturday, 24th of December 2022 in the four districts from 8 in the morning to 12 noon. The initiative aims to promote and inculcate the practice of recycling to the country’s communities towards ensuring that the country’s environment is always clean, green and safe. First introduced in 2018, the initiative was well received and it is hoped that it will further increase public awareness on the importance of recycling and introduce recycling services in the country.

 

In an interview with RTB, Awang Mohammad Ramzan bin Rahman, Environment Officer at the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, JASTRe also shared that this year, such an initiative has been expanded to the Temburong District. The initiative acts as a platform for the public to easily send waste materials for recycling such as paper, plastic bottles, cardboard boxes, used cooking oil and e-waste. The initiative is conducted with the cooperation and support of local recycling companies namely EnEvo Sendirian Berhad, Imaa Maya Enterprise, Shaliz Waste Recycling and Kawan Bumi Sendirian Berhad

 

For the poublic’s ease, seven locations for the National Recycling Day initiative located in the four districts have been selected. For Brunei Muara District the locations are Sungai Akar Transfer Station; Serasa Beach parking area and Kampung Parit Mini Recreation Park parking area. While for Tutong District it is at JASTRe Tutong Branch Office, Tutong Town and JASTRe Temburong Branch Office, Kampung Batang Duri for Temburong District. For Belait District, the locations are at JASTRe Belait Branch Office and Anduki Jubilee Recreation Park parking area, Seria.
