The 3rd Brunei Darussalam – Oman Joint Committee Meeting

The 3rd Brunei Darussalam – Oman Joint Committee Meeting was convened at the Empire Brunei on Monday, 4 July 2022. The Meeting was co-chaired by Yang Mulia Dr. Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary (Economy), Ministry of Finance and Economy of Brunei Darussalam and His Excellency Dr. Saleh bin Saeed Al-Masn, Undersecretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Investment Promotion for Trade and Industry of the Sultanate of Oman.

During the meeting, both sides alluded to the close and warm relations that have long been established at the highest level and between the government as well as private sectors. As Brunei Darussalam and Oman work towards achieving the targets of their respective national visions, namely Wawasan Brunei 2035 and Oman Vision 2040, the meeting acknowledged the potential to collaborate on areas that will enhance bilateral economic, trade and investment relations for mutual benefit. Discussions subsequently focused on strengthening cooperation in various areas including agriculture and fisheries, food, downstream and tourism.

As part of the official programme, His Excellency Dr. Saleh and other members of the Omani delegation visited Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd and toured the company’s seafood processing facilities.

The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Sheikh Ahmad bin Hashil Al-Maskari, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam as well as other representatives from Oman including from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Investment Promotion, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources, Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Also present were officials from various government agencies and entities in Brunei Darussalam including the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Brunei Investment Agency and the Brunei Economic Development Board.

The Brunei Darussalam – Oman Joint Committee, which was established in 2010, aims to develop and promote greater economic cooperation between both countries as well as between its private and business sectors.
