The 2nd Manila Dialogue: Regional Meeting of Southeast Asian Inter-Agency Counter-Trafficking Committees, IACAT, was held for 2 days from 15th October in Manila, Republic of the Philippines. The Dialogue is a platform for National Committees responsible for the issues of trafficking in persons, TIP in ASEAN to exchange iews and information on the latest challenges and de elopments, best practices in dealing with TIP and forced criminality.
Brunei Darussalam’s delegation was led by Awang Zulhusam bin Haji Abdul Samad, Acting Permanent Secretary for Security and Law at the Prime Minister’s Office as Chairman of the National Committee for Anti-Trafficking in Persons. During the meeting, the Acting Permanent Secretary for Security and Law at the Prime Minister’s Office emphasised that Brunei Darussalam’s approach in combatting TIP is guided by the principle of Maqasid Syariah which prioritises on the preser ation of life as one of its main principles.
