The temporary closure for all mosques, suraus and religious halls in the country have been extended for another week by the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs informed on the matter during this afternoon’s media conference.
The temporary closure of all mosques, suraus and religious halls in the country which ended lastnight, after Isya prayer, 27 of Sya’aban 1441 Hijrah corresponding to the 20th of April 2020 is extended for another week commencing Tuesday, at dawn, 27th of Sya’ban 1441 Hijrah corresponding to 21th April 2020 until Monday, during Isya’, 5th of Ramadhan 1441 Hijrah corresponding to 27th April 2020. The resolution was made based on the assessment made by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council during its meeting, based on explanations and advices by the Ministry of Health that there is still the danger of COVID-19 in the country. This is also in line with the State Mufti’s Fatwa number 02/2020 on the obligation on avoiding the danger of the infection.
