The Ministry of Defence and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF, also held the Tadarus Al-Qur'an Opening Ceremony. The ceremony was held at all RBAF's surau including Pulau Baru-Baru Mosque with the main focus at the Ad-Difa Surau, Bolkiah Garrison.

The ceremony began with the mass Fardu Isyak prayer, Sunat Tarawih and Witir and tazkirah or talk. The recitation of surah al-fatihah was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence. The ceremony also marked the start of Annual Ministry of Defence's Ihya Ramadhan and Ramadhan Outreach Programme. Also present was Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, RBAF Commander.
