Tackling Human Trafficking Issue

On the issue of human trafficking crimes, the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence clarified that the crime is different from the issue of drug mules, as it involves the exploitation of foreign workers or victims brought into certain countries without their permission or willingness.

In this matter, a committee was established to address the human trafficking issue which is the national committee for anti-human trafficking chaired by the Prime Minister's Office. The members comprise Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, Attorney General's Chambers, Royal Brunei Police Force, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Department of Immigration and National Registration, Labour Department and Department of Community Development. Currently, there are 2 cases of human trafficking that are in the process of prosecution.
