Strengthen the Country’s Socio-Economic Resilience

After 7 days in session in harmony and goodwill, the First Meeting of the 18th Legislative Council Session officially lowered its curtain yesterday. The Bill to supply the sum from the Collection of Monies of the Consolidated Fund for the service of Financial Year 2022-2023 and to allocate the sum for specific purposes proposed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy was approved by the Legislative Council and is now known as the Supply Act 2022/2023 with the allocation amounting to 5.7 billion dollars for the government budget for the Financial Year 2022/2023 which will take effect on the 1st of April.

With the theme 'Empowering Public Well-Being Towards a More Resilient Socio-Economy', the national budget theme for the Financial Year 2022/2023 is designed to ensure efforts that have been planned and implemented to be continued to further strengthen the country's socio-economic resilience so it is sustainable and inclusive. This is by benefitting from existing competitive advantage and innovative technology, including enhancing productivity for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs, and at the same time, generate job opportunities for locals.

4 foci were given priority to uphold the theme for the Financial Year 2022-2023 namely focusing on efforts to safeguard public well-being; assuring food security; upholding and assisting the private sector to be resilient and progressive; and enhancing human resource competency towards work and future ready.

It is hoped that all issues and matters deliberated throughout the First Meeting of the 18th Legislative Council Session can be successfully realised for the people's welfare specifically in further enhancing economic diversification efforts. This is so that the prosperity enjoyed today can continue for generations to come.
