Special Meetings of the Council of Adat Istiadat

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning chaired a Special Meeting of the Council of Adat Istiadat. The Special Meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office Building in Jalan Perdana Menteri.

 

Also in attendance were His Majesty’s sons and brothers;

 

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office as Advisor to the Council of Adat Istiadat;

 

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, Chairman of the Council of Adat Istiadat;

 

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Adat Istiadat;

 

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Second Deputy Chairman of the Council of Adat Istiadat;

 

And His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, Third Deputy Chairman of the Council of Adat Istiadat.

 

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris, Yang Di-Pertua Adat Istiadat Negara as Assistant Chairman of the Council of Adat Istiadat.

 

The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

 

Members of the Council of Adat Istiadat comprised Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Council, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, and Pehin-Pehin Manteri. The Council of Adat Istiadat is responsible for reviewing the development of Adat Istiadat from time to time and taking the appropriate initiatives as well as ensuring the implementation of proper Adat Istiadat. This is according to the principle of preserving its authenticity and integrity as well as accommodating and improving its practices based on the current development and situation.
