South East Asia Conference of Commandants

The Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom held the inaugural South East Asia Conference of Commandants. The 2-day conference themed 'Professional Military Education in the 21st Century' is held at the Defence Academy in Tanah Jambu.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force. In his keynote address, Brigadier General Udara Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohammad Sharif bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, emphasised the importance of inculcating professional military education and learning among personnel, especially in facing the dynamic and evolving international security architecture and geopolitics. The conference included a presentation of two introductory topics by representatives from the Republic of Singapore and the United Kingdom. The conference is participated by participated by the heads of defence universities, military academies and representatives from the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Republic of Indonesia, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
