The Attorney General’s Chambers virtually hosted the 1st Senior Officials’ Meeting of the Central Authorities on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, SOM-M-LAT from the 2nd to 3rd of November 2021.

Hajah Zuraini binti Haji Sharbawi, Solicitor General of Brunei Darussalam while chairing the meeting reminded the Meeting that the endorsement of the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty in Criminal Matters, M-LAT by the ASEAN Ministers and Attorneys-Generals in Yogyakarta in April 2019 was a milestone achievement contributing towards the continuous efforts in ASEAN in realising the ASEAN integration and Community Vision 2025 and was timely and complementary to the ongoing efforts in other sectoral bodies in ASEAN such as the ASEAN Senior Law Officials Meeting in strengthening ASEAN’s capacity to address transboundary challenges. The meeting is a platform for ASEAN Members States to discuss implementation of the ASEAN M-LAT and share best practices, experiences and challenges enhancing cooperation in ASEAN.
