Bandar Seri Begawan became public focus specifically cycling enthusiasts, with the 'Semangat Hari Kebangsaan 2023' Cycling Recreation, held in conjunction with the 39th National Day celebration. The cycling recreation was enlivened by the presence of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam joining the event which began and ended at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien, Bandar Seri Begawan. Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohammed Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohammed Yunos, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.
Immediately after arriving, His Majesty signed the Commemorative Shirt.
His Majesty then led the cycling recreation through several main roads around the capital.
The cycling activity has become one of today's trends with many choosing it as a fitness activity.
His Majesty watched the entrance parade of 39 cyclists for the 39 kilometre event. Also joining was the 'inline skating' group.
His Majesty also watched the fitness training and self-defence performance by the National Service Program, PKBN participants.
