Royal Birthday Reception

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammed Alam yesterday morning graced a reception in honour of His Majesty’s 76th birthday celebration. The ceremony hosted by the Diplomatic Corps in Brunei Darussalam was held at the Royal Berkshire, Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club, Jerudong.

Upon arrival, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja isteri were greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Second Minister of Home Affairs and His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashil bin Rashid Al- Maskari, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sultanate of Oman to the country as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.

His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed in his welcoming address among others expressed appreciation for the continuous hospitality shown to the Diplomatic corps in the country. He added that they are lucky to be working and living in the country under His Majesty’s patronage especially during these challenging times. His Excellency also said that the diplomatic corps highly appreciates the notable levels of bilateral relations reached between Brunei Darussalam and the respective countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

His Majesty received a Pasambah in the form of a carved wooden door known in Malay as ‘ Gebyok’.

Also in attendance were His Majesty’s son, daughter and sister, His Royal Highness Prince Haji  Al- Muhtadee Billah,  the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri  Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah;  AND Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah  Masna, Ambassador at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The reception ceremony reflected the diplomats’ utmost respect and appreciation to their Majesties and members of the royal family, government as well as citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam for their warm hospitality and friendship.
