Individuals with HIV can lead a normal life if diagnosed early, especially when their immune system is still strong. Otherwise, they still have the potential to survive if they seek immediate treatment, but if left untreated, it will turn into AIDS and attack a weakened immune system. Before seeking HIV treatment, it is important for the disease to be identified and treated at an early stage. This is also true for infants and children with HIV.

The Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council strives to disseminate information to the public to raise HIV awareness through a number of initiatives such as the HIV Awareness Programme for Peers and Youths or HAPPY.
