Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD, reminded the public to remain vigilant against short messaging services, SMS scams that aim to obtain customers' personal and banking information with the intention of causing financial loss.

BIBD in its press release shared that recent cases show that a typical scam attempt would be in the form of a customer receiving a SMS from an unfamiliar international number with a link asking customers to confirm a subscription or purchase. BIBD reiterated that the bank does not make use of messaging applications or third-party platforms when contacting customers. The public and customers may verify the authenticity of any SMS received from BIBD by getting in touch with the Contact Centre through mobile chat in BIBD NEXGEN Wallet or by calling the bank at 2238181 to confirm if the call was made by a BIBD representative.
