Participants of the 3rd National Counselling Convention 2019 was given exposure to differences in the state of mental health status based on comprehensive scientific studies, along with recent data on psychological stress. The main focus is on psychological stress comprising stress, anxiety, low mood and depression, psychological disorders that are increasing in the 21st century. The exposure was made yesterday morning at the Expressive Art Therapy as Mechanism to Manage Psychological Stress for One's Well-Being at the Civil Service Institute.
The keynote address was delivered by Doctor Azizah binti Abdullah, Senior Lecturer at Universiti Utara Malaysia. Doctor Azizah among others explained on several research and innovation projects of expressive arts therapy as coping mechanism for psychological supports. Such projects have been implemented by Universiti Utara Malaysia with several agencies in Malaysia. The convention aimed to act as a catalyst for counselling practitioners, psychologists and mental health professionals in the country to increase their knowledge and share current professional and scientific information.
