The Penilaian Sekolah Rendah or Primary School Assessment, PSR 2021 results are out. To ensure safety during the COVID-19 pandemic situation, this is the first time that PSR adopts an alternative means of assessing student performance, that is, using School Assessed Marks, SAM. Through this approach, students were assessed based on marks attained in their assignments throughout the school year from School Based Assessment.

Of 5,997 candidates, 5,239 candidates obtained Grade A to D in 5 subjects compared to 5,297 candidates in 2020. Meanwhile, 4,553 candidates obtained Grade A to C in 5 subjects, an increase from the 2020 candidates' achievement.

42 schools achieved 100 percent of Grade A to D results for all 5 subjects including 25 government schools. For Grades A to C, 22 schools achieved 100 percent results for 5 subjects, of which 14 are government schools. 2,984 government school candidates or 71.7 percent obtained Grade A to C in 5 subjects, whereas 1,569 or 85.5 percent private school candidates obtained Grade A to C. 1,229 candidates obtained Grade A in all 5 subjects, while 567 candidates obtained 4 Grade A and 1 Grade B.
