LEGAZPI CITY: The head of the Police Regional Office in Bicol Region (PRO-5) advised the 299 new police graduates from the six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) to prioritize public welfare during their graduation rites at Camp Gen Simeon Ola here on Friday. "You have been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the safety and security of the people in our region. These are not things to be taken lightly, but rather to be nurtured," Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon, PRO-5 director, said in his speech. PRO-5 expects from the new sets of police officers the enthusiasm and dedication to address terrorism, crimes, and illegal drugs in the region, Dizon said. "The disciplinary standards of the Philippine National Police are strict, and adherence to discipline is crucial. It's important to remember the fundamental principles of discipline and self-respect taught at PSBRC," he added. Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO-5 spokesperson, said the new police officers will immediately undergo the Field Training Program, which will provide them with six months of actual training in traffic management, investigation, and patrolling. "As patrol officers, they will receive a monthly basic pay of over PHP29,000, along with additional allowances," Calubaquib said. Source: Philippines News Agency
