The enduring bonds of friendship and affinity between Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines will continue to flourish and further strengthened in the years ahead. This was stated by His Excellency Christopher B. Montero, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam, 15th June night, during a dinner and night of Philippine Music in commemorating the 123rd Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence held in Gadong.

Representing the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the function was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs. In his remarks, His Excellency expressed appreciation towards His Majesty for Brunei Darussalam's unwavering commitment in the further strengthening bilateral relations and in advancing the goals of a caring, resilient and prosperous ASEAN community.
