Permission to Perform Umrah

Brunei Darussalam pilgrims have been granted permission to perform Umrah at this time but subject to the regulations set by the country's COVID-19 Steering Committee. Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister Of Religious Affairs stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation yesterday afternoon.

According to the Minister of Religious Affairs, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has approved the decision of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council which convened on 11th December 2021 on the Permission to Perform Umrah and Haj for 1443 Hijrah/2022.

The decision was made after hearing the views and advice from the Ministry of Health from health aspects and also from the State Mufti Department from the aspect of Islamic law in relation to the implementation of Haj and Umrah, taking into account the current COVID-19 situation. Therefore, permission has been given to Brunei Darussalam pilgrims to perform Umrah at this time. However, this is subject to the regulations set by the COVID-19 Steering Committee in this country with regards to the permission to leave and enter the country or going abroad restrictions.
