Opening of Cooperation Dialogue

Brunei Darussalam and the Sultanate of Oman appreciate the potential in furthering economic cooperation in many areas. According to the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, both countries have jointly established various initiatives to develop economic collaborations.

Speaking at the Brunei Darussalam - Sultanate of Oman Cooperation Dialogue yesterday MORNING, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah said Brunei Darussalam sees the importance of keeping the friendship torch stay alight for a very long time, not just for our generation, but also for future ones. The 3 day Brunei Darussalam - Sultanate of Oman Cooperation Dialogue is held in conjunction with the third Brunei Darussalam - the Sultanate of Oman Joint Committee meeting between the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman.

His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashil Al-Maskari, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam in his welcoming remarks shared that the two countries have always enjoyed a long history of friendly relations. The continuous consultation and coordination will further advance the two countries' bilateral relations in investment, education and other related fields, in a manner that will be positively reflected in the overall fruitful cooperation between both countries.

Mr Fathi Al Balushi, the Chief Executive Officer of Oman Brunei Investment Company, OBIC, in his keynote address explained that Oman Brunei Investment Company is a private equity fund that was jointly established by the Oman Investment Authority and Brunei Investment Agency with the strategic objective of fostering relations between the two Sultanates and encouraging investment in their respective economies.

The dialogue organised by the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman and Universiti Brunei Darussalam, UBD aimed to promote investment, higher education and tourism opportunities. The exhibition is open to the public until this Thursday, from 8:15 in the morning to 4:15 in the afternoon.
