At the Opening Ceremony of the 42nd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, AIPA held virtually yesterday morning, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, President of 42nd AIPA and Speaker of the Legislative Council in his welcome address stressed, among others, that in an effort to respond and recover the ASEAN region from pandemics collectively, it is high time for the ASEAN Member States to ensure inclusive digital transformation in order to build resilience and better prepare the current and future generations for a post-pandemic era. The rapid digital transformation and adoption brought about by the pandemic underscores just how important digitalisation is in today's IT-driven world, especially in navigating through these challenging times together.
According to Yang Berhormat, themed for the 42nd AIPA General Assembly is very important to explore, promote and enable digital inclusive in an effort to strengthen cooperation between parliaments during a pandemic.
The Opening Ceremony was attended by the representatives of the ASEAN Members States' Parliament as well as Observer countries and AIPA special guests. Brunei Darussalam took over to hold the 42nd AIPA General Assembly hosted by the Legislative Council.
