Ongoing Monitoring and Surveillance Measures

The Minister of Health informed on the ongoing monitoring and surveillance measures against respiratory infections including COVID-19 that occur in the country.

The Ministry of Health will randomly invite patients that is being treated in flu clinics, especially those with Influenza-like illness to undergo RT-PCR laboratory test. In addition, COVID-19 positive cases through ART reported in the BruHealth app will also be randomly contacted by the Ministry of Health to undergo RT-PCR laboratory testing.

This will enable the ministry to obtain information on the type of infection that occurs. If the virus detected is the SARS-CoV-2 virus, genome sequencing tests will also be performed to identify the variants present in the country. The public who are invited to undergo swab test for surveillance purposes are welcomed to take part in the initiative to enable the ministry to continue to conduct quality surveillance activities for the safety and well-being of the people and residents of the country.
