Officiating the Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja

His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam then officiated the Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja. The hub not only has the potential to become an oil and gas industry knowledge centre but also acts as a platform for artistic activities towards aiding creative industry development in the country.

 

Also in attendance were His Majesty’s sons and brother;

– His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office;

– His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik;

– His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen;

– And His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah.

 

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Second Minister of Finance and Economy.

 

The recital of Surah al-Fatihah and Doa was led by Awang Zulkifli bin Haji Murat, Superintendent of Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. His Majesty then officiated the Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga DiRaja.

 

The Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja houses the permanent exhibitions of Brunei Shell Joint Venture, BSJV at Galleries One, Two and Three. With the theme ‘Our Past, Footsteps In Time’, Gallery One among other things showcases the history and way of life in the country before the discovery of oil and gas.

 

Carrying the theme ‘Our Present, Hands On Hearts’, Gallery Two is an exhibition of the oil and gas industry today.

 

At the Bilik ‘Ayer Berkunchi’, His Majesty used a telescope to view the Ayer Berkunchi Area where the first oil well drilling took place near the then Brunei Town.

 

Using new technology towards the transformation of a more stable oil and gas industry is showcased at Gallery Three with the theme ‘Our Future, Eyes On Tomorrow’.

 

His Majesty was then gracefully invited to view products from Pusat Bahagia; Pertubuhan La Vida; Senior Citizens Activity Centre and SMARTER Brunei. Also presented was Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam School construction project and ‘Community for Brunei’ exhibition.

 

Gallery Four which is the Art Gallery showcases a collection of paintings from the Department of Brunei Museums and local artists.

 

Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja is now the main hub for the public and tourists to learn more about the history and contributions of the country’s oil and gas industry. The hub is open to the public from Saturday to Thursday from 9 in the morning to 4.30 in the afternoon and is closed on Friday.
