Officiating Ceremony of Executive Development Programme

Leaders must become the nation's aspiration, the catalyst and determinant of the success of the government's efforts in overcoming the challenges faced by the country. This includes those brought about by the currents of globalization of which the impact is increasingly felt such as in economy, health, safety, well-being, technological transition and environmental challenges.

The Minister at the Prime Minister's Office stressed the matter at the 29th Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officers, EDPSGO; 31st and 32nd Executive Development Programme for Middle Management Officers, EDPMMO for the Financial Year 2021/2022, yesterday morning. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud explained that leaders should be thinking outside the box and thinking ahead for new methods of delivering services to the public. What is most important, added Yang Berhormat, is that all amendments which will be implemented must be accepted and can be used by the public easily and quickly as well as effectively in fulfilling the purpose and objective of the service delivery.

The Minister at the Prime Minister's Office also said that in the efforts to develop ourselves, gaining the current knowledge and experience in the era of globalization as well as the Fourth Industrial Revolution should also be given in maintaining a good personality that does not conflict with the noble values of our Malay Islamic Monarchy identity.

84 participants took part in the programme which among others include a study on current issues, policies as well as best practices in civil service management as well as administration practiced around the globe from the perspectives of Islam and conventional. The Executive Development Programme organised by the Public Service Department, was one of the components under the Civil Service Leadership Pipeline, CSLP. CSLP is one of the initiatives under the Public Service Framework established to support the Wawasan Brunei 2035 through the Institution Development Strategy. Meanwhile, the 29th EDPSGO and 31st EDPMMO were conducted by Universiti Teknologi Brunei, UTB, while the 32nd EDPMMO was conducted by Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA. Also present was His Excellency Heng Aik Yeow, Singapore High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam.
