Brunei Darussalam is entering the Northeast Monsoon since early December 2021 and is expected to continue until around the end of March 2022. During the first two months of the Northeast Monsoon, which is in December 2021 and January 2022, known as the Monsoon Season, the country will usually receive a large amount of rainfall and record the highest number of rainy days compared to other months.

During this period, the public is reminded to be aware of the high risk of flash floods, especially in low and flood prone areas as well as in areas near river banks. The risk of a more severe flood can occur when heavy rainfall collides with a tidal event. While the risk of landslides and fallen trees can occur during heavy rains that last more than 1 hour.

Northeast winds can also cause wave heights in the country's waters to turbulent levels, which can reach up to 3 point 5 metres and wind speeds can increase up to 50 kilometres per hour. Sea conditions are also dangerous to all small boat users, and all recreational activities and sea sports.
