Muslims all over the world will soon celebrate New Year 1444 Hijrah. In Brunei Darussalam, the National-Level Islamic New Year 1444 Hijrah Celebration will be held late this Friday, 29th July, starting at 5 in the afternoon. To ensure the smooth running of the celebration, yesterday morning a full rehearsal was held at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampung Kiarong. This year’s celebration carries the theme “Bersabar, Berikhtiar, Bertawakkal Dan Berdoa Menghadapi Ujian: Memacu Wawasan Negara”.

Present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Islamic New Year 1444 Hijrah Celebration. The ceremony will also be held simultaneously at mosques, suraus and religious halls throughout the country with the focus at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampung Kiarong and main mosques namely Kampung Pandan National Housing Scheme Mosque in Kuala Belait; Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Tutong Town; and Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in Bangar Town, Temburong. Among the activities lined up for the ceremony are the reading of the end of Hijrah Year doa, Hijrah New Year doa and Religious talk on Hijrah.
