This month's Nationwide Religious Programme for all Religious and Arabic schools in both the morning and afternoon sessions focuses on the theme "PENGHARAMAN ZINA" or "PROHIBITION OF FORNICATION". In Brunei Muara District, the programme is centred at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Arabic Religious Secondary School in the capital.
The programme included Sunat Hajat prayer, recital of Sayyidul Istighfar and Salawat Tafrijiyah. There was also a Tazkirah or talk on social problems in the country. Statistics indicate the highest is drug abuse, fraud, thefts, drinking alcohol, close proximity and fornication or illict sexual relations.
In Belait District, the programme was hosted by Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Saadatul Bolkiah Religious School in Seria. 404 Pre-school, Primary 1, 4, 5 and 6 pupils attended the programme. The function began with Sunat Hajat prayer, recital or Sayyidul Istighafar, Doa for examinations and a talk on Prohibition of Fornication.
Meanwhile in Tutong District, Pengiran Kesuma Negara Bukit Beruang Religious School was the programme's focal point and more 50 pupils attended. The tazkirah or talk highlighted ways of preventing fornication, especially protecting the modesty of women and preventing diseases such as HIV/AIDS.
In Temburong District, the programme was held at Pengiran Muda Mohamed Bolkiah Religious School. It was attended by pupils from Pre-school up to Primary Six. It included Sunat Hajat prayer; recital of Sayyidul Istighfar and Salawat Tafrijiyah as well as Tazkirah. The Tazkirah or talk stresses that Zina or fornication is a big sin.
