The Minister of Health also shared on the accomplishments of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19 on the 20th of December 2021.
The overall rate of the population who have received at least one dose of the vaccine is 94.4 percent; 92.5 percent have received two doses; while 9.1 percent have received three doses of the vaccine. Furthermore, following the Ministry of Health's press conference on the 13th of December 2021 on the administration of the third dose to individuals aged 18 and above and have completed two doses of the vaccination, the Ministry of Health announced that vaccination bookings for the third dose or booster dose via the BruHealth app will be open today, 22nd of December 2021 at 12:00 noon.
Members of the public who wish to make the third dose booking must first update their respective BruHealth app via the Google Play Store or App Store to enable the booking to be made. However, the administration of the third dose via walk-in is still open only to the elderly, pregnant mothers and differently-abled persons. Currently, the administration of the third dose or booster dose in Brunei Darussalam is using the Pfizer- BioNTech or Moderna vaccine, subject to stock availability at the vaccination centre. Scientific studies have found that the use of both types of vaccines as a third dose or booster dose are effective and safe to enhance the immunity in the body and provide protection against the COVID-19 infection, regardless of the type of initial vaccine that has been received as the first and second dose. Meanwhile, during the movement restrictions carried out from 10 last night until 4 yesterday morning, no violation of the directive nationwide was issued with compound fines.
