National Isolation Centre Laboratory’s Foundation Laying Ceremony

The construction of the National Isolation Centre Laboratory is a measure towards implementing the International Health Regulation and the Ministry of Health's policy in strengthening the country's public health core capacity. Apart from that, it also aims to meet the World Health Organisation's policy. The Ministry of Health through the Department of Laboratory Services held the Foundation Laying Ceremony yesterday morning for the National Isolation Centre Laboratory for An Accredited National TB Reference and Virology Laboratory Services in Tutong District.

The foundation laying ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health. The certified BSL3 containment laboratory will support the Ministry of Health's Strategic Plan for 2019-2023, specifically on initiatives under the Strategic Goal 1 and 3 to achieve a Centre of Excellence in Clinical Laboratories and analytical support services for public health and security in the country. Also present were Members of the Legislative Council, Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esung and Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong as Penghulu of Mukim Tanjong Maya in Tutong.
