Efforts to equip the workforce need to be given serious attention in order to widely adapt technology in the industrial ecosystem that will allow businesses to operate more efficiently and interact with customers more effectively, so that the future workforce is future-ready, knowledgeable and skilled. The Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy further explained that this is not only to overcome today's challenges but also to seize tomorrow's opportunities. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah underlined the matter in his keynote address at the opening session of the National Business Conference 2023. Yang Berhormat also touched on the country's economic growth in the non-Oil and Gas sector, which has reached a high of 9.8 billion dollars in 2021 and is projected to continue to grow steadily into the foreseeable future. The conference took place on 2nd February morning, at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Dayang Hafimi Abdul Haadii,Chair of the APEC Business Advisory Council Brunei in her welcoming remarks said that as a country that is connected to the global economy and plugged into the trading architecture, it is imperative for the Brunei business community to understand global trends and challenges.

Meanwhile, Dayang Haslina Taib, Chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Brunei stated that it is time to transform the community and young people into a Digital Workforce, position the country as a Digital Economy Hub as well as bring the Energy, Green and Halal industries towards ASEAN Net Zero for a better Planet.

The National Business Conference 2023 gathers key stakeholders in the Brunei economy to discuss economic diversification and growth, as well as the digitalisation and sustainability agenda.
