Brunei Darussalam remains committed to proactively taking steps to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions as the country believes that small actions can make a big difference. Brunei Darussalam increased its climate ambition and made new commitments at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 26.

Speaking at the Mock COP Closing Ceremony, Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary for Energy at the Department of Energy, Prime Minister's Office shared that the country only accounts for 0.017 per cent of total global greenhouse gas emissions. The Mock COP & Climate Change Workshop is a collection of workshops, panel sessions and conferences over 2 weekends. It was all inspired by the 26th COP held in Glasgow last year. The event was organised by the ASEAN Youth Advocates Network Brunei, AYAN Brunei, with main support from the Youth Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative, Y-SEALI; the U.S Embassy; Community for Brunei, CFB and Brunei Youth Council.
